About Bill Stewart

Bill Stewart is a Scottish writer, traveller, and chronicler of true crime whose work explores the darker side of some of the world’s most beautiful places.

His journeys have taken him from the coral-fringed islands of the Pacific to the bustling backstreets of Tokyo and the sun-bleached shores of the Caribbean. Along the way, he’s uncovered the real stories that lie beneath the postcards — tales of greed, betrayal, and justice delayed.

Bill’s ongoing series, The World’s Darkest Secrets, brings these investigations to life with an eye for atmosphere and a deep respect for fact. Each book blends meticulous research with vivid storytelling to reveal how paradise and peril often walk hand in hand.

A former Marine Auditor with more than 42 years at sea, Bill rose from Boy Seaman to respected Marine Auditor and Lead Investigator of marine incidents and accidents. Decades of analysing complex systems and uncovering hidden flaws honed his investigative instincts — skills he now channels into his writing.

Today, as a full-time independent author and publisher, Bill applies his sea-born discipline and detective’s curiosity to uncovering forgotten crimes and cold cases from history’s shadows. His work in *factual fiction* bridges rigorous research with compelling narrative, giving voice to stories long buried in dusty archives and untold case files.

Based on the Scottish coast, Bill writes with tea at hand and the sea on his doorstep — still chasing answers to history’s darkest questions.

With over fifty independently published titles to his name, he continues to explore the stories that others overlook, reminding readers that every paradise has its shadows — and every story deserves to be told.
