Lily and Charlies Adventures : Farmyard Visit

About

The Best Saturday Ever

Lily woke before her alarm.

For a moment, she lay perfectly still beneath her yellow duvet, listening to the birds chattering in the garden. A strip of sunshine stretched across her bedroom floor, and somewhere downstairs a cupboard door opened and closed.

Then Lily remembered what day it was.

“Sunnybrook Farm!”

She threw back the duvet and jumped out of bed.

At the foot of the bed, Charlie opened one brown eye.

Charlie was Lily’s beagle, her best friend and, according to Mum, the nosiest dog in the whole of Scotland. He had long, floppy ears, a white-tipped tail and a nose that seemed able to discover trouble before trouble had even decided where to hide.

“Come on, Charlie,” Lily whispered excitedly. “Today’s the day!”
