The Mystery of the Missing Blue Ribbon

The summer holidays were proving to be full of surprises.

Only a few days had passed since Lily and Charlie had returned from Bluebell Wood, where they had helped Emma the woodland ranger discover why the animals had been behaving so strangely.

Charlie was asleep beneath the kitchen table, his paws twitching gently as though he were dreaming about fox cubs, hedgehogs and woodland trails.

His black harness hung neatly beside the back door.

Lily smiled every time she looked at them.

“You’ve certainly earned those,” she whispered.

Charlie’s ears twitched.

He opened one sleepy eye before letting out a contented sigh.
